Knexions Case Studies:

"Knexions certainly worked for me. Being able to get to people who’d already done what I was attempting was extremely useful"
Company: Johnson Matthey
Topic: How do companies set up a skills and expertise database for employees?
Johnson Matthey, the speciality chemicals company (8,000 employees; 34 countries), faced a challenge common to many international and global companies. How do you effectively connect people with the right skills, experience and knowledge within the Enterprise. The IT department had attempted on several occasions to build an understanding of what skills based systems where available, who built them, and what were the challenges of both implementing the technology and changing peoples behaviour.
The Group Data Manager recalls, "we looked around for information and insight but floundered on a number of occasions. This is an area of business where good relevant information is not easy to come by, and we also really wanted to talk to people that have done it". Johnson Matthey decided to use its Knexus Community subscription to access Knexions, the Community’s web-based network connecting corporate executives across enterprises. Using the simple interface, a Knexion was started setting out the nature of Johnson Matthey’s business challenge and requirements to collaborate. Knexus Community Manager commented "this was a knowledge management focused Knexion that prompted an almost instant response from within our Community, with more than half a dozen major companies offering to share their knowledge and experience with Johnson Matthey".
Through the Knexion, Johnson Matthey has been able to rapidly identify its preferred solution, pick up important lessons learnt, and has created a network of peer group relationships that are willing to share their experience of implementing the chosen solution.
The Group Data Manager commented "Knexions certainly worked for me…. Being able to get to people who’d already done what I was attempting was extremely useful". The budget holder for Knexus Community stated "one Knexion like this makes our annual subscription money well spent".

"There was a great deal of sharing and value between our two companies."
Company: Syngenta
Topic: Share knowledge and experience on how mobile technology and CRM tools can best support its remote (home based and travelling) sales force
Syngenta (the global seeds and crop protection company and Knexus Community subscriber) wanted to gain insights from other corporates on how mobile technology and CRM tools can best support its remote (home based and travelling) sales force. Using Knexions, Knexus Community’s web-based network for connecting corporates across enterprises, Syngenta set out the nature of its issues and the help it required.
Upon seeing the Knexion on the Knexus Community portal, the eBusiness Manager at Coca-Cola Enterprises (which makes, packages and distributes Coca-Cola products – the world’s largest marketer, manufacturer and bottler of the brands) registered his interest to participate in this Knexion online with one click of the mouse. Coca-Cola Enterprises has a large mobile sales-force and was also looking at its mobile CRM solution.
The eBusiness Manager said: "We exchanged a number of emails and found we had common challenges. It was very useful being able to talk to someone else. We were about to embark on something that Syngenta had done 18 months ago, so it was great to get their feedback and thinking. There was a great deal of sharing and value between our two companies."
Knexus Community Manager, commented "Sales Force Effectiveness is an area of growing importance for our members and Coca-Cola Enterprises was able to tap into the knowledge and experience that other members had shared with Syngenta." Through this Knexion, Syngenta talked to a number of member companies and generated significant learning and ideas about Sales Force Effectiveness.
Syngenta’s Head of Global CRM Design Authority, reflected "Through Knexions, I’ve develop a number of good contacts."
