eLearning is creating a wave of change that is being felt across the boardroom, workplace and classroom. Currently, elearning accounts for 25% of training budgets, but this is expected to double in the next few years, as elearning becomes the preferred training mode (According to research analysts IDC, the elearning market will be worth £4.21 billion over the next four years). So what are some of the questions Knexus Digital Business members are asking about this important topic: • What is eLearning and why is it different to Knowledge Management? • What are the benefits and constraints of eLearning? • What methods of assessment are available? Companies are investing more in employee development and training, recognising the strategic importance of their people to business success. At the same time, the direct costs of staff attending off-site training courses is rising, together with the disruption this causes to the business. Both these factors increase the attraction of eLearning solutions. eLearning comes in many different media formats, can be customised to suit the individual and their particular learning style, and can be utilised at times that optimise business continuity. In addition, course materials can cover formal subjects plus day to day and company specific job skills. |
